The Istituto di Moda Burgo (IMB) was founded in 1961 in Milan by Fernando Burgo, who thanks to his experience in the fashion world, has developed a learning system aimed at optimizing and emphasizing learning efficiency, with the main objective of training students into compatible professionals on the international market. A highly qualified staff and a quick and easy teaching method based on the individuality of each student, have distinguished the institute since its foundation.

Since the beginning of its activity, IMB has tried to give its students the necessary instruments, such as books, duplicated lecture notes, curves, squares etc., in order to teach the fashion system. 
he experience reached through the compilation of several books' editions culminated in the realization of two books which the experts of fashion consider the milestones of the fashion teaching methods. They are "Il Modellismo" (last edition 2009) and "Il Figurino" (last edition 2012). These books are constantly up-dated so that students can keep abreast of the continual evolution in the fashion world.

The collaboration between a dynamic and constantly updated faculty (IMB) and the most prestigious fashion houses allows better communication with the younger generation eager to share technical knowledge and the direct experience of their professors.
IMB has established close cooperation with companies, atelier, style offices placed in Milan and in Italy, such as Dolce & Gabbana, Krizia, Armani, Gucci, Gianfranco Ferré and many more.

IMB started as an italian fashion school in Milan, and has since grown into an international franchise and spread worldwide, to Albania, Brazil, Egypt, Italy, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Turkey. IMB has also carried out technical collaboration with some of the international fashion schools located in Japan, Switzerland, Austria, India and Peru.
oday, 80 Fashion design schools in cities around the world have been using the system and method of Burgo School.


Opening the school abroad allows IMB to promote its teaching system by merging it with the cultural and environmental surroundings. It also allows the students to have IMB close to home, saving on living expenses, visa and school fees.
